The Colour Cushion
This cushion was created by picking out 5 colours from my colour palette and experimenting with my screens to create a beautiful over print design.
Creating A Collection
This picture shows 6 print designs and captures the moment in which I started to pull prints together to see what designs were missing from my collection.
Floral Lamp Table Stand
I hand-created this stand from start to finish from; sanding, painting, and varnishing. I wanted to create an individual piece for one of the lampshades that I have created, to stand on in my exhibition.
Primary Drawing
Here is a selection of some of the primary drawings that I created to help inspire and brainstorm my colour, imagery and pattern ideas for my collection. All drawings are inspired by my own primary photography.
A Final Design
A vibrant close-up picture of a final design from my collection. This image portrays clearly the beautiful vibrant colour and overprint in the design.
Handmade Lampshade
A digitally drawn design that I had digitally printed onto cotton linen. I constructed the lampshade myself using a lampshade-making kit.
Hand Painted Wallpaper Design
A hand-painted wallpaper design that is inspired by my primary drawing. This design is size A1 with the option to either repeat it or scale up to a larger size.
Two Lampshades and Cushion
This image shows my cushion and lampshades together portraying the colourful and extravagant energy of the 'Garden Party' collection.
Tabitha Sowa
I am a Loughborough University Textiles: Innovation and Design finalist, specialised in Printed Textiles. As a printed textiles designer I enjoy to work with pattern, extravagant colour, mixed drawing techniques and digital mediums. My style is colourful, fun and busy. I enjoy a vibrant project with a concept that inspires me to explore a variety of techniques and ideas.
My final project is named 'The Garden Party', inspired by a variety of garden flowers. The inspiration behind the name of the project stemmed from watching Marie Antoinette. I enjoyed the scenery of the Versailles Palace gardens and the garden parties hosted by Marie Antoinette. This sparked an idea to create a modern interior floral collection suitable for domestic home interiors, to be used in an outside home garden setting, lounge and kitchen area. For my final collection, I have created a series of prints, two lampshades, a bedside table, and two repeat lengths. The project has enabled me to create a fun and exciting collection perfectly suited to my own individual style.
I plan on gaining experience in both fashion and interiors after I graduate as I am keen to gain knowledge and insight into a variety of areas within the Textile Design industry. I plan on creating a small business on the side that will enable me to continue to design for myself and keep up my passion for creating.
