Sami Carre
App design created to enhance the experience of the Big Bus tour to Old Dubai.
Old Dubai is only visited by 10% of holidaymakers. Having lived in Dubai, it was clear that a lot of its history had blended into the background and has continually been ignored by tourists and residents. The Bedouin Discoveries route and app is a sub-brand of the Big Bus tour company and helps to mix old locations with new technologies. The app provides tourists with a more digital and hands-on experience where visitors use technology to unlock information about Dubai's history and its hidden elements, expanding from the 1980s. The app includes a mascot element for child tourists where they can also use their devices to take photos at designated selfie spots, reach checkpoints and meet locals.

Work Experience
I worked at Leicester Tigers Rugby Club for my placement year as a Communications and Multimedia Assistant.
My job was to: - Plan, shoot and edit photographic content as needed for digital and social channels.
- Support the communications team in developing multimedia content for the Tigers website and app.
- Photograph training, player appearances and matchdays.
One of the main challenges I faced was understanding how differently things are run behind the scenes. I had been asked daily to capture photos of specific players so that others were given the chance to be seen by supporters, on social media that week. Photography is my strongest and most confident art form. Having to fill photographic criteria that was being used to capture or tell a story in a certain way, to manipulate a supporter's viewpoint, provided a sense of reality about the industry that I found hard to support and collect content for in the beginning. This challenged me to become a much smarter photographer by making sure I had planned my shoots prior and continually used my initiative and creative thinking to complete tasks in the time provided. I quickly learnt that this is how the sports industry works when having to protect their brand and reputations. I feel that I adapted my work well to the club's marketing style and by having basic editing and photoshop skills, I was able to assist the graphic designers with some major projects alongside my photography.
