Katie Chapman
Katie is a textiles student specialising in print design. Throughout this project she has has looked into her seaside town, Plymouth, paying particular attention to the local fishing harbour to create a cohesive interior collection for costal holiday homes.
‘Catch of the Day’ is based on exploring the fun shapes and colours that often go unnoticed when you initially think of fishing harbours. My prints are designed to shed light onto the seemingly normal yet intricate elements and objects that go into the act of fishing on an industrial and recreational level. Throughout this project I have looked above and below water for my inspiration, making sure to capture the essence of Plymouth’s harbour so that my final collection does justice to the seaside towns beauty. I have aimed to create fun and exciting prints through the use of screen printing, painting, Lino printing and digital design that I hope will create a fun and colour environment when used for any interior collection.
