Final year project
Enhance long distance parent-child relationship by improving emotional interaction [Read more]
Final year design practice project - HOOOME
The long-distance family relationship (especially overseas student families) can often be distant due to a lack of face-to-face communication. HOOOME is a domestic immersive communication device that creates an immersive communication environment in the room through a three-level projector. A more realistic and expanded view allows the user to foster the emotional connection between parent and child with an immersive experience.
HOOOME - Immersive Projection
By rotating the angle of the projector, HOOOME will project the three connected projections onto the wall to create a more realistic, more emotionally connected and immersive call environment.
HOOOME - Handwriting Message & Availability Mode
To facilitate emotional communication, users can adjust their online status and check other family members' status to encourage family calls in a fragmented time. Handwritten doodle messages to leave notes can convey emotions better than typing.
HOOOME - Exploded View
Each layer of the projector part is held in place by screws and supplemented by rails to limit the projector from over-rotating and causing excessive strain on the internal wiring. The joint between the projector part and the base has been adjusted to allow for stable one-handed rotation. The base comes with a two-channel audio and WIFI module to organise the complex electronics while giving the user an immersive listening experience.
HOOOME - Filming Devices
HOOOME needs to be connected via WIFI to the three cameras of the 'HOOOME camera' to receive videos. 360 panoramic cameras on market are also available for filming.
Final year live project - HOLA
HOLA improves remote office relationships by giving a sense of collective presence. The inner motion tracker captures the user’s movement and blurs them out on the screen, creating an atmosphere of working together.
