This project was inspired by my time living in the Philippines when I was a child growing up. The inspiration for my project was the memories I have of plants and fruits I was surrounded by. The colours and patterns of these were reflected in local festivals. These colourful festivals reflect the mixed cultures which have become embedded into Filipino culture which has influenced textiles through their weaving and embroidery. I explored Shibori, crochet, embroidery, and fabric manipulation techniques to inspire my collection. I have tried to make this collection a sustainable buy using fabric remnants, recycled materials and more sustainable alternatives. The outcome for this collection is a lifestyle accessories collection you might find in a premium high-street or boutique store.
