WHY OUR FAMILY NEEDS A DOG! - A Short Film

This is the main poster for my short film titled "Why our family needs a dog!". The image represents my year-long final project that focuses on my skillset as an animator and illustrator. The film tells the story of a little girl desperate to receive a puppy for Christmas, but when her initial plan fails, she might have to get a little creative to obtain what her heart truly desires, although, she will soon learn to be careful what she wishes for.

This project has been a challenge for many reasons. Firstly, I am, above all, an illustrator, I have worked freelance for two years now for a large number of clients, including big names in the music industry such as Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion. This being said, animation is a passion of mine which I have been practicing for a short period of time and wanted to further develop with a big project such as this. This project required long hours of research not only into animation but also filmography. I had to adapt to a totally new style and art form that requires a ton of work and dedication. In my first semester, I put my time into creating the characters, backgrounds, developing the story, and preparing for the next stage, which was animation. I have never dared to create from scratch such a big and intimidating project, but it felt like the perfect time to do so, and I am really happy I did. I pushed myself and my abilities to the limit, and it paid off.

I will use the knowledge and skills I have acquired through this project and implement it into the next stage of my life, a year-long masters in Animation at Nottingham Trent University, which I am really excited to start this September.
