How to Better Connect with Each Other II
It portrays the relationship between people during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since the rules of lockdown were applied, people had to obey the rules by staying at home for a long period of time. In this way, people were granted to chance to live with their close ones for a long time in the same environment. However, it seems unavoidable that conflicts within relationships tend to arise more frequently, which is similar to the touching of the two fingertips shown in the picture, people tried to understand and appreciate each other, but it is difficult to do so.
Dreaming of Party
Due to the impact of Covid-19, people must keep their social distance by two metres, and most group activities were highly restricted. As being affected by Covid-19, I could only lay on the bed and daydreamed of being able to hang out with friends and participate in outdoor events. In the mixture of the video content and the still image, I did not overly photoshop the former and the latter, so that a strong contrast was formed, and it helps better distinguish between reality and the dreamland.
'Inheritance'
The picture of the supermarket as the background in this artwork was taken during the first lockdown at the beginning of the outbreak of Covid-19. People tend to be highly stressed as many media agencies reported the shortage of local supplies, hence people rushed into the supermarkets to stock up. The two people shown in the picture represent two extreme conditions, one of them was crying as she was not able to buy any life essentials, while the other wealthy person is already enjoying her life cheerfully with her jacket loaded with adequate foods, and blowing a piece of tissue, which was in extremely high demand. Although this artwork seems to be ironic that people's behaviours were negatively impacted by the pandemic and the social media, it was more of a process of self-reflection, as I was also the one who rushed into the supermarkets to stock up due to the same factors.
'Wealth'
This one is a small derivative work of the 'Inheritance'. It shows how many items are needed to fill the inside of the jacket.

Demi (ZIQI) Huang
A sensitive person talking about her experience during COVID-19 through performing arts.
Covid-19 has always been an inspiration for my creativity. It is not only one of the most controversial topics at present, but also it deeply affects people's lives in almost every aspect. In this project, I aimed to discover the connection between the symptoms and my own experience during this pandemic through four themes of performing art (videos), which are: First - wearing masks; Second - social distance; Third - lack of supplies; and Fourth - the relationship between people living in the same environment for a long period of time. In collecting audios for videos, I adopted different ways of breathing sound and used them as the major content, I also mixed the audios with relevant scenes accordingly. For instance, in the theme of "Dreaming of the party", I mixed the scenes with chatter sounds that were collected after the lockdown to illustrate how people were grateful for the improved situation, and how precious it was to be able to gather with friends after multiple times of lockdown. In terms of skills that applied in the project, I made use of PhotoShop, AfterEffect and Adobe Audition to edit video contents. Moreover, I used audio recorder to collect audio samples.
