Entrance to The Room Preview

This is a general idea of what the room will look like upon entry. As shown, this dark room contains caged structures which will have to be entered in order to view the second half of the installation.

Entry to The Cages

This space will be slightly claustrophobic as there are tall structures in a disorientating space. I have added another access point just in case people think this part of the installation is overwhelming. This is a preview of what the audience will see.

Bars and Bodies

Here are the bar looking elements of the cage. I would like to inform the viewers that these are only made of rope and can be moved if necessary. This was to create the illusion of entrapment without physically restricting anyone's movement to an extent that could be considered dangerous or a fire hazard. Although the aim is to create a space where the viewer feels uncomfortable I would like to ensure that the safety of the audience is thoroughly managed.

Room Plan to Aid Movement Through The Construct

Here are some general directions of how the room is supposed to be experienced. These directions should help the viewer orientate themselves in this darkened space and should aid their experience of the overall installation.

I have created a distorted depiction of the old plaster casting room, experimenting with nuances of light, space and self perception.

My work is a commentary on peoples' distorted view of self as a consequence of corrupt social constructs. I have created a structure that restricts peoples personal freedom in my space. They are forced to conform to the constructive elements of my sculpture while reflecting on their view of self. This uneasy and controlled environment should leave people feel slightly disorientated and on edge. This large construction is mostly created by 8ftx8ft frames, leaving the viewer feeling overwhelmed by this immense structure.

This will be a light controlled room that requires strict instructions in order to experience the structure as intended. Personal experience will differ per individual. Instructions are available upon entry.
