Amy Rossiter
Amy Rossiter is a textiles designer, specialising in integrated digital practice. Her designs are driven towards high end men’s fashion with a focus on structured garments.
Amy’s graduate collection is based on the two sides of tarot. Many people find tarot a source of stability and comfort, but others have said it has a feeling of foreboding and tempting fate. Pulling on items from the past and giving insight into the future is a fascination that has drawn people to the mystery of tarot for centuries, but for some they find it reveals dark secrets and apprehension. Amy has created a high-end men’s fashion collection visualising a wide range of processes such as jacquard, digital embroidery and printed textiles creating a collection representing the light and dark areas of tarot.
Amy has worked with a mixture of fabrics such as silk organza, velvets and lambswool to explore the breadth of fabrics surrounding men’s fashion with a juxtaposition of the role of gender in fashion. Amy has used stark differences from structured men’s suiting fabrics to delicate embroidery to elaborate on the theme of tarot and how gender plays no role within the tarot deck. Amy’s passion for drawing has aided all elements of her design process and collection.
Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are some of the design software Amy has key skills in. From the use of digital embroidery and jacquard weaving, she has also gained ample knowledge in Wilcom Embroidery software and Scotweave.
