Nest Egg- Initial Proposed Design
Nest Egg combines recommended money management methods into a central hub. Budgets and savings goals are easily accessible for all members of the family. Progress can be seen at any time, through quick glance panels.
Nest Egg - Exploded View
Nest Egg uses touch-sensitive LED sliders to allow the user to input data The exploded view was used to considering the internal components and to further understand the light diffusion.
Nest Egg - Home Environment
The progress rings illuminate to show the progress towards a specific budget or savings goal.
Concept Development - Sketching
After the initial design proposal, the concept development was focused on making the design more modular. A modular system would allow the product to adapt to the often-changing needs of family life.
Concept Development - Prototyping
Rapid prototyping was used to quickly communicate size, form and intended interaction.
Concept Development - User Interface
Nest Egg combines a variety of digital financial tools. An intuitive, easy to navigate user interface had to be considered, to pull these tools together.

Solving a well-known and relatable problem using first principle thinking.
Traditional money management methods have been replaced by digital tools. But modern finance has forgotten the power of a united family. The finance market has been saturated with personal mobile banking tools. Yet research shows that 1 in 10 brits have no savings at all. This presents an opportunity to take a new approach to finances - moving away from individual struggles to a system centred around the family.
My main goal is to create in as many ways as possible. Studying industrial design has allowed me to see how vast design really is. It takes on multiple forms and touches almost every industry. Design is capturing an idea birthed in the imagination, bringing it into the world through expression, and watching it grow as it is shared. I plan to carry the design principles I have acquired into a lifetime of creativity.
