Enhancing the Ankle Rehabilitation Experience for Injured Athletes [Read more]
FENIX.
The portable resistance cable monitors compliance and tracks the progress of the athletes' rehabilitation exercises. The compact & stylish product encourages athletes to take Fenix to their training/ sports/ games and matches. Fenix aims to reduce the stigma of injury rehab, provide social benefits of being with the team, and monitor physical progress.
- Internals
Fenix houses an internal clutch mechanism that adjusts the resistance of the cable. A built-in speed sensor measures the force and control of the cable being pulled. Information is automatically sent to the user's phone via the internal Bluetooth chip.
- Set Up
With a built-in cable up to 6 foot long, Fenix is adaptable for shoulder or hip strengthening exercises. Attachable joint straps can fit around the product when not in use for accessibility, protection and storage.
- Top Face
Numbers communicate the level of the resistance cable. The subtlety of the resistance level minimises any possible embarrassment the user may feel about their current fitness level.
- Adjustable Dial
The twist of the dial will adjust the resistance of the internal cable. 3D printed iterations were used to test the efficiency and comfortability of the interaction point.
- Surface Securing Method
A lock switch activates the suction cup mechanism, which safely secures the product to any indoor sports surfaces. Ease of use and convenience is vital to encourage continuous use.
- Ankle Strap Attachment
A variety of joint straps can be easily attached to the product to suit the athlete's needs. Fenix's minimal form with refined materials and textures is inspired by common sports products such as foam rollers and modern sports-massage guns.
