Reducing the effects of lower back pain through lumbar muscle rehabilitation [Read more]
Cure
One of the leading causes of chronic lower back pain is weak and/or inactive multifidus muscles in the lumbar spine. This often goes untreated due to the difficulties associated with engaging and isolating the muscles directly. Cure aims to provide a different type of therapy, which utilizes electrical muscle stimulation to strengthen and rebuild the multifidus muscles.
Cure – EMS pads
Carbon rubber electrodes align with the multifidus muscles on each side of the lumbar spine and are used to transmit electronic pulses to the muscles causing them to contract for set durations of time. Over time, this can help re-build the muscles and reverse the process of muscle atrophy.
Cure - Exploded view
The device is predominantly constructed from a mixture of both firm and soft-touch silicone, which range in flexibility. This helps to enhance the comfort, function and feel of the product.
Cure – Ergonomic fit
The shape and materials were carefully considered to ensure the product could comfortably fit to the users back while ensuring the electrodes are always kept in contact with the skin and allowing for a full range of motion.
Cure - Application
The application connects to the device and gives the user complete control over the intensity, setting and duration of the EMS muscle contractions, as well as offering pre-defined settings that can be used alongside physical core stabilizing exercises. The app will log activities after each session and inform the user of their progress over time.
Connect
A week-long live project, which looked at improving physical or mental wellbeing. Connect is a family of products that work together by using both lidar scanners and retinal projection to create an immersive mixed reality experience for the user.
Connect – Context of use
The devices aim to improve the mental well-being of people living alone by giving them an immersive communication device to better connect to their family and friends.
Connect - Exploded view
The user can slide their finger along the touch bar on the side of the glasses to rotate and zoom in on their projected view.

I am a creative, passionate and hardworking designer who enjoys the thrill of bringing ideas to reality.
Visualising ideas through the use of sketching, prototyping and high-quality product renderings has always been my favoured part of the design process; however, through both my time at university and my industrial placement at Roper Rhodes, I have developed a wider breadth of skills and hope to continue to expand my knowledge once I leave university. My ambition is to see innovative products that I have developed, make a positive impact on people's lives.

Work Experience
Roper Rhodes Ltd - UK Bathroom furniture supplier
During my placement at Roper Rhodes, I was able to work as part of the product development team for brassware, fitted furniture, mirrors and cabinets and sanitary ware. This gave me exposure to a wide variety of design and development techniques as well as different production methods for each category.
It was both challenging and rewarding working in a fast-paced design development team to ensure deadlines were met for new product launches.
