Jenny Li
Jenny is a Textiles Graduate who specialises in Integrated Digital Practice. She draws inspiration from different cultures, history and the surrounding environment and transforming these details into contemporary designs with her own unique style.
‘Unseen Light’ is a textiles graduate collection that shines a light on the unknown phenomenon of light pollution. The invention of artificial light in the early 20th century has transformed the lives of human beings. Yet it brings about its own consequences in light pollution, whose impact we are only just seeing in the modern world, including unable to see our beautiful night skies with the naked eye.
With the emphasis of exploring the impact of artificial light, ‘Unseen Light’ is a collection that experiments with the use of light and photography, in conjunction with specialist materials. Alongside different digital processes, including digital print and digital embroidery, it is a collection that aims to inform the general population of the existence of light pollution in a way that is both informative and unique.
With the knowledge, experience and skills that have been gained throughout her time at Loughborough, Jenny plans to pursue a career within the textiles industry while also continuously expanding upon her skills and developing her unique style and identity.

Work Experience
M&Co Womenswear Design Intern (June 2019 - September 2019)
With responsibilities including research into trends, colour and market research, this experience allowed me to apply and develop my digital skills further, as well as providing an insight into how a high street brand creates collections that are informed by current and future trends while working collaboratively within the design team and other departments within the industry.
Lee Paton Atelier Intern (October 2019 – December 2019)
Lee Paton Atelier gave me the knowledge of how a high-end bespoke atelier tailored towards a personalised experience for both the client and designer. It also gave me the chance to experience a fast pace environment and keeping within tight deadlines. Responsibilities included creative skills such as garment production and design to hand finishing techniques as well as client interaction and general upkeep of the studio.
Hawthorne and Heaney Embroidery Intern (January 2020 – March 2020)
Hawthorne and Heaney was a specialised experience in traditional and digital embroidery within the professional industry. With responsibilities including the general upkeep of the studio, research, client interaction and social media, it also gave me the chance to learn new skills including a variety of different traditional embroidery techniques and how they use their different platforms to grow their awareness as a brand.
