Suzie Gray
As a child, I wore clothes advertised for boys, had short ‘masculine’ hair, and all my friends were boys. As a child, I also loved dresses, dolls, and anything pink. As a teenager, I expressed myself through what I wore, as I do now. However, I quickly learnt that outsiders would judge what I wore to determine my sexuality, class, mental state and even gender. Gender is an evolving topic, however, the engraved gender stereotypes that are forced into us are not.
‘THEY’ is a brand identity for my gender-fluid clothing, furthering the boundaries from simply trousers and tops to dresses, skirts, bras, and underwear. Using flesh tones and the garishly feminised colour pink, these textiles blur the divide between male to female whilst uniting them along with all genders.
