Children's Story Book - 'Go Biking'

Another double-page spread from my children's book. This page separates the training segment of the book from the more action-based section of the book. I wanted to make the reader feel like they too were entering the event when they see this page and get a sense of atmosphere.

Looking into the fears and misconceptions associated with mountain biking, I illustrated a story inspiring young girls to get out on their bikes and get over the potential fears.

Throughout foundation, I found a real passion for visual storytelling, either through video or illustration. In my final major project, I chose to illustrate a children's storybook as it combined both my interests in mountain biking and illustrating. My younger cousin, Sofia, like me, is one of few female mountain bikers in her club. My book approaches potential hurdles a girl could encounter when mountain biking showing they can be beaten. Through much experimentation on character design, background design and page composition, I have managed to visually communicate my message. I look forward to my next few years studying graphic design and learning more and preparing myself for future industry work.

I recently was involved in two exhibitions one of which was in collaboration with Joshibi University of Art and Design in Japan. In the Connections project, in collaboration with Joshibi University, we designed postcards showing what connections meant to us personally. The exhibition can be found through this link: https://www.lboro.ac.uk/schools/sdca/connections/
I was also involved with a plastics exhibition showing the effects plastic has on the environment. Working on this project was especially eye-opening and I have changed certain aspects of my life due to the research that I was involved in. The exhibition can be found on this link :
