Atmospheric Nature [Read more]
Acetate explorations, printed with mark-making 'soundscapes' to recordings of natural environments. Further manipulated into 3D forms inspired by paper artist Peter Gentenaar, and the textural qualities in nature. In this series of forms, I explored the material by shaping the acetate into intricate, organic models which depict elements of space, texture, and reflection. Incorporating lighting inspired by sunbeams and shadows in nature, the collective aspects are designed to engage the senses and induce a feeling of natural familiarity with the piece.

Through experimentation I have developed abstract representation's of natural environments, creating an escapist experience which simulates the feeling of being in nature through texture, form and colour.
Inspired by my career ambitions of set design, I based my work on the immersive element of this art form. To achieve this, I initially focused on how nature stimulates our senses, translating this information into visual forms. The strengths in my skill set are depicted through material exploration and experimentation. An integral part of my practice is organically forming ideas and evolving my projects with each new piece of work. Taking 2D elements of sketching, photography, and mark-making and advancing them into intricate 3D forms; whilst surrounding the viewer with tactile fabrics to evoke a sense of peace reminiscent of the feeling of being alone in nature.
