Cruelty-Free: It Isn't Over Until It's Over
Nowadays, animal testing cosmetics are banned in more than 40 countries around the world but more than 115 million animals worldwide are still being used and killed for animal experiments in the cosmetic industry every year. This animation tells that animal cruelty is still happening to the viewers and encourages them to go for ethical choices by supporting cruelty-free cosmetics. The project is for the animal protection organisation, Cruelty-Free International, and planned to be used as a part of a cruelty-free campaign. Talking Turkeys: Children's Book Cover Design
Children's book cover design for Penguin Student Design Award 2021. From the self-titled 'Talking Turkeys', Benjamin Zephaniah mentions how "Turkeys just wanna play reggae / Turkeys just wanna hip-hop" and this quirky idea hugely inspired my cover design. Based on these lines, I designed a DJ turkey character talking on the microphone while appearing like he is fun and playful. The dark and simple background was chosen to make the turkey bold and outstanding as the main focus, and I used hand-drawn texture for illustration and handwriting typography to give the conversational style.
The Tiger and the Gotgam
'The Tiger and the Gotgam' is an e-book for children containing moving illustrations. The story is originated from a Korean folk tale about a silly tiger who misunderstood the Gotgam, which is a dried persimmon, as a big and scary monster.

Haryung Lee
A visual storyteller specialised in illustration and animation.
Throughout my degree, illustration and animation have been the main focus of my work and I have a strong passion for bringing stories to life in my visual language. I really enjoy creating illustrative storytelling which can have an emotional connection with the target audiences and making still images more vibrant with motions. Following graduation, I look forward to building a career in an illustration and animation studio that would allow me to develop myself further as a visual storyteller.
