vi+mi
Vi+mi is an at-home blood-based device that detects levels of different micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) in your body and relays them via an app, along with plant-based suggestions on how to achieve your optimum levels of these. The device performs lancing and analysis of results as painlessly and conveniently as possible, made possible by microneedle technology.
The Cartridges
Each of the 23 testing cartridges detects levels of a different micronutrient in your body. Users have the option to buy more test cartridges or set a subscription via the app.
The App
The linked 'vi+mi' app provides test walk-throughs, personalised feedback including prompts regarding when and what to test, your results and plant-based diet and lifestyle suggestions. The app also enables users to input GP details (if they wish their result data to be visible), existing health conditions or allergies and symptoms (which could indicate a deficiency and therefore prompt a certain test). Other features include inputting data regarding menstrual cycles or pregnancy, enabling a more thorough understanding of what nutrition the user's body requires.
3D Printing
Prototyping and virtual user testing were conducted to evaluate and improve the key interaction elements including aesthetics, ergonomics and scenario of use. 3D printed models helped to achieve this, providing high-fidelity, quick iterations of the design.

Thea Willmott
Empathetic, multi-faceted designer with a maker attitude interested in the power of technology to improve user experience through product and spatial design, whilst considering social consequence and sustainability.
Throughout my degree I've developed not only my technical skills but my ability to empathise with an end-user, carrying out research and testing to understand how each part of the user journey plays a role in providing a great experience. Many of my projects have focused on wellbeing, which I find rewarding due to my interest in improving people's day-to-day lives. With a passion for interiors as well as product design, I hope to combine these skill sets in my future career prospects.
Final year project
